I LOVE this restaurant. Smells so good. BUT PLEASE PUT STUFFED PEPPERS AND HUMMUS BACK ON MENU! It's why I come! The Peppers are better than any Italian restaurant. The only place around where u can get hummus with balsamic and veggies until they were taken off the menu.

My friends and I shared 3 different popular types today: Pesto, carnivore and margherita. Personally my favorite is pesto with basil, cheese, tomato and bacon. It's really suitable for a party meal so that you can have the opportunity to try different flavors of pizza without being stuffed by only one. Their pizza is flawless, but they need to consider improving the environment for people waiting to be seated at the entrance where is usually busy lest they make a nuisance of the ingress and egress or on the other way around.

Drinks were great and the service was excellent. We always get the pepperoni pognotta, it is amazing. I had the pesto pasta which was very good. Wife had the proper salad which as tasty. The ambiance is "bar" loud but works. Every time we see a show this is our place.

Matt hitting our GOUD fam with a review. "5/5 on everything I'm about to list. I started with the Nick of Thyme, which was strong in all the right places and tasty when the time came. I loved this cocktail honestly, some uniqueness but the nice quick buzz gin offers. We had the Pesto pizza and the Funghi pasta, and everything was amazing and delicious. Top notch pizza crust in a wood fired oven, with so much richness and flavor of the pine nuts in the pesto and flavor from the cured bacon. The Funghi pasta sure was fun as hell, so creamy and cheesy with perfectly cooked pasta and tender mushrooms. Also featuring one of the longest noodles I've ever seen. I wish we could have had two plates of the Funghi, I feel like we'd have eaten it. Everything #GOUDapproved NICK OF THYME SEVEN GOVERNORS GIN (PA) / THYME-INFUSED COINTREAU / BENEDICTINE / LEMON / AGAVE $15 PESTO oven-roasted roma tomatoes / caramelized onion / basil pesto / wood-smoked pork belly bacon / fresh mozzarella / roasted garlic oil / Parmigiano-Reggiano $24 FUNGHI wood-roasted cremini mushrooms / white wine / garlic / thyme / herbed fresh ricotta / fresh pappardelle $25

This is a fantastic restaurant serving creative pizzas, salads, appetizers and an assortment of entrees ranging from brisket Mac and cheese (my favorite) to salmon, steak and sometimes duck. A very nice feature is that every salad can be bought as a half portion. They do not take reservations, so it's walk in only, but we had no wait getting a party of 7 in around 5 pm. They do get busy by 6. The carnivore, Mediterranean and Forest pizzas are great. I could have used more Calabrian chilis. Anything with the house smoked pork belly (bacon candy, BLT salad, carnivore, pesto) is worth getting. My favorite, though is the brisket Mac and cheese. As I wrote in my blog on Mac and cheese across the country, "This comes in a hearty ceramic bowl featuring fresh cavatappi spirals in a white cheddar sauce, punctuated by wood-smoked beef brisket, caramelized onions, and a perfectly balanced deep red, tart-sweet barbecue sauce." Service is fabulous. Our waiter did separate checks for our table, and even made up a version of southern sweet iced tea for my husband (he used simple syrup, thus bypassing the temperature restriction on how much sugar can dissolve). Definitely one of our favorite restaurants to enjoy before a show in the cultural District.

We enjoyed our night at Proper with great service and an intamate ambience. My husband and I went for the pesto pizza, funghi pappardelle and bacon candy. The pizza was perfected cooked with the right about of crispy to soft ratio for the crust. We also loved the pasta with the exception that it was a bit on the dryer side. The noodle texture was perfectly al dente. The famous bacon candy was unfortunately just ok- nothing special. For the price you pay for this popular item I hoped it would have been better. Go for the mains and pizza, skip the bacon!

Came in for a drink on a Saturday before the theater crowd and waited on a to go pizza. The cherries in the snow cocktail was perfectly refreshing with lemon and cherry flavors. The bar got pretty crowded during our stay and a wait by the time we left the restaurant. Overall a solid choice in both food and cocktails. I think this is a great place to take a date before the theatre or to just get a good meal before a night out. Will definitely be returning.

Came here on a recent weekend trip down to Pittsburgh, and took our college daughter and her roommate out for some pizza pies. Was busy on a Saturday night, but the wait was about 20 minutes and we were seated in the bustling bar area. A really wide selection of tap beers here and plenty of gourmet pies to choose from. The table shared a plate of Brussels sprouts and then we split two pizzas...a mushroom pie as well as a margherita pie. Both pizzas came out piping hot with a slightly chewy crust and fresh toppings. Everyone enjoyed the different flavor combos and I'm sure we'd return here again if looking for a more upscale pizza experience.

I stopped by on a Saturday afternoon to grab a late lunch. I had driven by several times and had been wanting to stop in. It beat expectations! I loved the vibes of the place. Just laid back and cozy, perfect for late fall and winter. I smell of the pizza oven just adds to the feels. And the host was so nice and helped me order. I ordered the Forest Pizza. It was big and I definitely could have (and should have) shared it, but hey, I was very hungry and it was delicious. Definitely will return to this spot.
